Proposed Mansfield City Charter Amendment (a) has been misleadingly titled a “Bill of Rights.” The Charter Amendment does not give citizens more rights. Instead, it gives politicians in Mansfield’s city government the right to impose more red tape that will drive business development and jobs out of the city.
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce says that “City Charter Amendment (a) will create MORE GOVERNMENT RED TAPE for ALL BUSINESSES in Mansfield and drive jobs away.”
Mansfield is already suffering from thousands of lost jobs, a stagnant economy, and a city government the state declared to be in fiscal emergency. The only way to turn Mansfield’s economy around is to attract more businesses and good jobs to the city.
Supporters of the proposed charter amendment want to give the city the authority to stop business development in its tracks. In fact, under the so called “Bill of Rights,” unless the city gives permission, development will face immediate obstacles and jobs won’t get created.
The job-crippling red tape in the charter amendment will apply not only to the energy industry, but to all businesses in Mansfield.
City Charter Amendment A will stand in the way of new jobs, new businesses and a better future for every citizen of Mansfield.
On November 6, please stand up for your right to build a brighter future for you and your family by voting NO on City Charter Amendment (a).
